day 1 of Insanity.  OUCH.OUCH.OUCH.

Completed 20 minutes - that should of at least worked of the choco chip cookies and mint cookies I had earlier.  I hope. And I thought Jillian Michaels was tough...golly gee..she's a softie.

I haven't updated about the Gunnar Challenge in a while.. It's going great, but I feel for myself it's not very challenging. I think if you are use to working out and you are looking for something different maybe to boost your workout.. this may be a little too easy. It's excellent for those just beginning..but as it stands right now, It's easy for me., so easy in fact that I usually do the Jillian Michaels workout right after for the 25 minute bonus that we can do.

We shall see how it progresses, I'm hoping as the weeks continue they get a little harder.

Gunnar Fitness Challenge - Day 2

Have I ever mentioned that I LOVE bread? Bread fresh out of the oven smothered in butter. French bread, garlic bread, sweet rolls... and my new found love.. Pull apart lemon bread with bits of lemon sugar all gooey and crunch stuck to the sides and topped with a lemony cream cheese frosting..oh my yumminess.. *sigh*

I will eat you again one day just not in the enxt 8 weeks..  although bread isn't cut out, it is one of my biggest downfalls.. so I figured I will put temptation aside for the new few weeks.

Day two was pretty great. I am loving the menu, I can't say that I normally eat all of what is there mainly because I am not a big eater- I never have been except for bread- but what is there is tasty and NORMAL.

Day 2 menu -

The workout itself was not bad either  I think if you're pretty active it should be a breeze and just a warm up, but if you're getting into the groove of things for the first time..I'd say its challenging enough but not so much so that you're turned off by it.

Day one of the Gunnar Exercise Program -

Basically today was just following the meal plan and setting your goals and getting familiar with everything if you were not able to do so before hand.

The program itself is really great, you can keep track of everything on the website - food you eat, workouts, weight, measurements and so forth.

The meal plan itself is actually not as bad as I thought it was going to be, A big turn off for me whens tarting something is usually the food it requires. I like being able to do a program and not have to replace my entire pantry or shop for two different styles of eating. Thankfully though we don't do processed foods or many ready made snack or junk food items, we eat ALOT of veggies, and I usually try to make breads and snacks for my children from scratch - that way I know what is going in it and how much and can usually swap out alot of sugar for another item and even add in items like wheat germ or flax, so the menu had a lot of htings I already had and I would think most people would have in their kitchen as well.

Today is actually considered a rest day, I was actually gearing myself up for a full blown workout, but was somewhat relieved to see that it actually starts tomorrow.

So I am off to go weigh, and measure myself.  He did say take a bikini shot... but ehhhh I am not so brave.

I truly believe that for myself I did not know what it was to be a parent until I had my son, seriously. My daughter and I were so in tune with each other it was like having a little side kick, or best friend following me all day..My son.. a whole other story, that guy..I love him, I do, but wow - He's work...tiring work, the kind that at the end of the day you want to fall on your face and just not get up.

So, after not working out fully for some time now, I truly think I just lost that desire to actually move around.. because at the end of the day... I didn't want to move, I wanted to veg out and well not eat veggies, and scheduling a time to work out seemed like a black cloud looming over my head at the end of the day.

But I know my body and there is no way that it can stay in a vegitated state for long, on top of that if I didn'r try to do SOMETHING the carbs I've been consuming and have been hiding out were bound to make an embarrassing appearance one way or the best combat that situation now.

My son (love that guy) just turned a year, and maybe that was his magical number..I don't know, all I know is...he plays...miraculously.. on his own now..he's still clingy and needs me more than my daughter did, but I can  sneak in a workout or two during the week now on my own.. without having him strapped to me, or using him as my weights. With that said I have really been wanting to kick up my fitness routine and get back into the shape I was before I had him, so I entered MODERNMOMS Gunner Challenge not really thinking I would actually get it, but figured I'd give it a shot anyway.. lo and behold I check my email to find that I actually won the VIP pass to take part in his 8 week fitness prorgram.

Bounce Bounce Baby

Darn you cake in a cup! MUST. STOP. THESE. CRAVINGS. NOW. It has got to be the quickest and easiest thing to put together, and it goes down so damn nice... ugh.. I will do everyone a deed and NOT post that recipe.

Turns out my son is a lot more work than I imagined, I had it in my head that it was going to be a walk in the park like my daughter. *que birds singing and music playing with butterflies dancing around* He is the OPPOSITE.. in every sense of the word. But I love that little man, even with my tired grainy eyes..when he smiles and I manage to see it... it just melts my heart and makes me keep going..well that and the truck load of coffee that I seem to be consuming.

On the plus side..I've still managed to work in some form of exercise aside from bouncing on my workout ball all day long while holding my little man.

So if ever you find your self in the same predicament - a baby that likes to be held on a 24/7 basis - These work well for keeping them entertained and you get some nice toned legs in the process.

Lunges with a side twist - he esp. loves this when he is trying to go to sleep.

Squats - He loves that up and down bouncing motion.

Calf raises - another up and down motion that he likes.

As far as the arms... haha holding a baby all day should be work enough.

I jsut need to figure out a way to get some ab time in.

Getting back in to the groove...

Wow.. time does fly. Lets see in the last year or so I've had a son and gained a FEW just a few pounds..needless to say.. those FEW pounds must go. I'm 4'9" and typically I weigh around 85 -90 pounds anything extra and things start to feel heavy like I've got concrete blocks for shoes.

Anyhow after not really working out for the last 3 months of my pregnancy and then the two months after... things are a little rough in getting into the groove of a full blown workout.. I mean seriously if I could have reached through my screen and slapped Jillian Michaels.. I would have. That 30 day shred is no joke, and I am quite certain it gets the job done if you stick with it... but 5 minutes after I put it in... I hit the stop button and said I'll try again tomorrow. It's been about a month and well I have yet to summon up the courage to put that DVD back on.

About a week ago I decided enough is enough is enough - I've got to get back into shape, that and I'd like to go shopping for some non maternity clothing.
To help me do that.. I have been using EXERCISE TVs 30 day workout plan - Its set up in a calendar form so each day starting at day 1 you log on click on the 20 minute video. For each week they give you two days off. The workouts are easy enough to keep you encouraged and coming back but yet get you going that you work up a sweat.

I think I am loving this months second day workout where you actually do somewhat of a dance. I also love the fact that you can do a print off and tick off each exercise that you do.
